Unity Spiritual Movie Night
Hello all -
Our next Spiritual Cinema Night will be this Friday, 4/20, at 7:00 pm at the Unity Center.
The movie is “The Moses Code.” by James Tyman The info says: It takes “The Secret” to a whole new level, focusing on our spiritual heritage and our purpose on this planet.
Some of the most incredible miracles in history came from applying a simple code, activating the power of the creative force of God in the world. This code has the power to transform the planet, as well as add rich blessings to all of us. This is the foundation of the Law of Attraction. In the film, spiritual teachers offer tools to apply the Moses Code to our lives. Other films and books have focused on using the Law of Attraction to get the things we believe we need. The Moses Code takes the next step, using this law to give from the soul, automatically attracting spiritual blessings to us.”
Plan on arriving at 6:45 so we can start on time. Love offerings gratefully accepted.
5 GIFTS FOR AN ABUNDANT LIFE – 8 Week Class
Dear Unity Community:
I’m very excited to offer a new class this spring at Unity Center called:
5 GIFTS FOR AN ABUNDANT LIFE. It has been taught hundreds of times and many participants have wonderful experiences with it.
This is truly a class in growing personal consciousness of abundance in all areas of life, and at the same time we will also be growing the consciousness and abundance of our center.
The dates are 7 Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 pm, April 17 through May 29th. The course is actually 8 weeks, but the last session is a celebration, and we can decide if we want that.
You buy the book (can order used from Amazon for around 1 cent plus $4.00 shipping).
You can buy the workbook spiral bound for about $30, but I can send you a download of it to copy and put into a binder. It’s 117 pages double sided, so @ $9.00 at Copy Corner.
There is NO COST for the class, except an agreement that you will tithe on all sources of income to Unity Spiritual Center during the course. However, this is completely on your own, as an experiment in growing your consciousness.
I do hope you will join with me in sharing this experience and growing our consciousness of abundance in all forms. Contact me if you want like further information or to discuss concerns.
Many Blessings,
Rev. Gena
The Spiritual Side of the Shadow
At times, we might express words or attitudes that seem opposite of our image of being good, kind, and “spiritual.” We might joke that it was our “Evil Twin,” a staple of soap operas. Growing spiritually means lifting out of the soap opera experience – problems, inner conflicts, and hidden agendas – and into a greater life.
The Evil Twin is a way to project all the parts of ourselves that don’t fit in with the ego’s good identity. In psychology, this is called the Shadow, an archetype of the parts of ourselves that we reject. In our desire to be seen as “good,” we reject those parts of ourselves we call “bad.” It’s how we were socialized, that some things were acceptable and others were not. So we start to disown the unacceptable parts of ourselves,
But the parts we repress still grow and mature as a secondary personality, a life under the surface. A great example is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The upright and moral Dr. Jekyll, after drinking a potion, acts out his baser instincts as the coarse brute Mr. Hyde.
Carl Jung, the great psychologist who named the Shadow, said “Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. Own your shadow or it will own you.” For like a scolded child, it will find expression in some way.
Part of our spiritual work is to recognize shadow elements in ourselves, what we have rejected. What seems “bad,” an error, or sin, is really the opportunity to embrace all the parts of ourselves in a greater way. For the word “sin” is from an archery term meaning “missing the mark.” It’s not a character label, but simply an opportunity to correct our aim and form.
As we accept our shadow qualities, we can look with compassion on others. Accepting what we have disowned brings greater integration, wholeness and balance. We give every aspect of ourselves a seat at the table.
We are Divine beings – spiritual beings having an experience on the human plane. We are all on the path of remembering who we are. Whenever we condemn ourselves, feel less than or wrong can be an opportunity to remember our Divinity and love ourselves even more.
Every instance of shame or blame can be a reminder that we and all beings are whole, perfect, and complete. We can reconnect to our Divine Source at any moment and lift up into a greater experience of light, love, and joy. Not only are we lifted, we also become a healing presence and blessing to the world.
Many blessings to you,
Rev. Gena
Love is all there is
February is traditionally seen as the month of love. In addition to loving relationships, Love is the purpose of life – it’s all we have to do. Love seems to be one of our earth plane lessons. We could say “As the world turns, so the world learns” – to evolve to a higher state of being.
Everything we can see, hear, sense, feel, or think is energy vibrating in a particular pattern and frequency. And Love is the highest vibration of energy there is, the highest consciousness, and we can participate in it. It’s a state of mind of oneness with unconditional Divine love, and know that we are infinitely loveable, infinitely loved.
Marianne Williamson wrote in Return to Love, based on a Course in Miracles - “Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we have learned here. The spiritual journey is the relinquishment – or unlearning – of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts. “
And the Master Teacher Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as your love yourself.” This implies that you can’t really love your neighbor UNLESS you love yourself. Loving ourselves is a priority, to love who we are, love everything we say, think, and do, in the past, present, and in the future.
I invite you to focus this month on Love – love for yourself, love for all others, for everyone you see, speak to, and or bring to mind. Focus on the truth, that you are one with Infinite Divine Love.
Love to you,
Rev. Gena
